The Richard B. Funk Center for Great Expectations provides Applied Behavior Analysis services for children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder.


What is Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA)?


Applied Behavior Analysis is:

  • A scientifically proven method used to produce socially significant behavior change in individuals with disabilities
  • Focuses on increasing desired behaviors using reinforcement
  • Highly individualized
  • Progress is tracked by taking daily data

Decreases Problem Behavior:

  • Self-injurious behavior
  • Aggression
  • Elopement
  • Property destruction
  • PICA
  • Verbal aggression

Increases Appropriate Behavior:

  • Communication
  • Leisure
  • Play
  • Academic
  • Grooming and hygiene

Decreases Problem Behavior:

  • Self-injurious behavior

  • Verbal aggression

Increases Appropriate Behavior:

  • Communication
  • Leisure

  • Grooming and hygiene

Provision of Services:

Individualized:

  • Assessments which will tailor services specific to each child
  • 1:1 therapy with a Registered Behavior Technician and/or a BCaBA, with BCBA oversite
  • On average 10-20 hours per week based on assessment outcomes


Eligibility criteria:

Children with the following diagnostic codes supporting medical necessity are eligible to receive services upon referral from their physician: (age and diagnosis may vary depending upon insurance plan):

  • Autistic Spectrum Disorder – F84.0
  • Other Pervasive Developmental Disorders – F84.3-F84.9


Insurance Plans Accepted:

Most major insurance companies accepted. Contact us regarding your insurance plan. *Florida Autism Legislation mandates coverage for individuals with autism by health insurers and health maintenance organizations that do not sign the Development Disabilities Compact.
